SECOND GRADE: Round 1
Orange CYMS played Orange City at Country Club Oval, and on the back of scores from Brett Wykes (51), Matt Baker (43) and Angus Goman (43), CYMS finished at 5/197 after they won the toss and batted first. Brad Johnson picked up 2/24 to be the only multiple wicket taker for City. The Warriors could only muster up 157 in reply as they were bowled out in the 38th over. Youngster, Harry McDonald top scored with 31 with Jamie Stedman contributing 28. Samuel Wilsom was the pick of the CYMS bowlers taking 3/27, while Riley Krause (2/29) and Riaan Du Preez (2/34) also bagged two wickets each.
Cavaliers made light work of Wanderers in their match at Jack Brabham Park. Luke Osborn (4/28) and Stuart Crisp (2/16) helped to dismiss Wanderers for only 81. Crisp then top scored with an unbeaten 40 in the chase. George Honeysett also made 31 as Cavaliers chased down the runs with 7 wickets in hand.
Centrals made a solid start to the season with a 5 wicket win over Spring Hill. The Wood Ducks were bowled out for 131 as Sean Kelly (3/33) and Damien Caughlan (2/4) shone with the ball. Alex Little (38) topped the scoring for Spring Hill.
Centrals then secured the victory in the 29th over with George Olsen (24), Sean Kelly (23) and Riley Davis (21) all contributing. Alex Little picked up 3/25 with the ball to go with his earlier contribution with the bat.
THIRD GRADE: Round 1
Wanderers posted a formidable total of 287 in their third grade match against Centrals Black. Gavin Smith made an unbeaten 127, with Caleb Smith (38), Steve Nean (29) and Ben Ellwood (25) all chipping in. The best of the Centrals bowlers was Grant Crossman who took 2/45. In response, Centrals Black made 156 with David Marchese falling two runs short of his century. Gavin Smith, Ben Ellwood and K Parker each claimed two wickets.
Orange City had a close result over Centrals Red in the only other third grade match played. Batting first, Centrals Red were dismissed for 108, with Edwin Appadurai top scoring with 50 and Bilal Qadri making 36. Isaac Clarke with 3/20 and Nate Lee (3/25) fared the best with the ball for Orange City. In their innings, City managed to pass Centrals’ score in the second last over and with the last pair at the crease. Michael Evans made 32 for the Warriors, while Jain Johny (3/15), Manjodh Grewal (2/22) and Jalpesh Patel (2/22) all caused problems for the batters.
