Cavaliers have held their place in the Second Grade top 3 after an 8 wicket win over Orange City. Toby Middleton 3/23 and Stuart Crisp 3/10 bowled well for Cavaliers, with only Troy O'Keeffe (26) and Pat Giuffre (22) putting up any resistance for City. Toby Middleton then helped himself to 67 runs as Cavaliers cruised to victory.
Centrals were made to fight hard for their win over Wanderers. Kurt Gander (42) and Will Richard (30) helped Centrals to 141 with Daryl Kennewell (3/12) and Gareth Faul (3/24) the best of the bowlers against their former club. Nathan Gander top scored for Wanderers with 24 but it wasn't enough as Aaron Chaseling (3/26) and Sean Kelly (4/26) ensured a red and black victory.
Kinross have all but secured the second grade minor premiership following their bonus point win over 2nd placed Orange CYMS on Saturday. Angus Pengilly (44), Jamie Anderson (38 no), and Robbie Heath (33) were all amongst the runs, while Liam McKenzie bagged himself a 5-for, finishing with 5/10 off 7 overs.
Gladstone kept their place in the top 3 with a close one wicket win over Centrals in Round 12 of the 3rd Grade competition. Centrals batted first and were looking for a big total at 3/89, but they lost 7 for 18 to be all out for 107 with plenty of overs still left to bat. Gladstone got their chase off to a good, but a Barney Davis (4/43) inspired collapse saw them lose 6 for 13 at one stage, before recovering to 7 for 94 and within sight of victory. Riley Davis then picked up wickets with consecutive deliveries to leave the Gladdy with 14 runs still to get and only 1 wicket remaining. Daniel Lang (52no) was able to finish the job to get his team home, with a bonus point to boot.
Orange City stayed within reach of Gladstone with a dominant display against Cavaliers. City made 4/208 from their 40 overs, with Adam Cowden (74), Matt Pearson (45) and Matthew Elliott (38no) all making valuable contributions. Sam Proudfoot (4/20) and Alex Walker (3/13) then combined to help bundle Cavaliers out for 85 and claim a valuable bonus point for their team.
Orange CYMS closed the gap to first placed Spring Hill following their 58 run win over the Wood Ducks. For CYMS, Angus Gorman (45) and Rubneet Singh (38) helped CYMS to 145. Rory Jaye doing his best with 6/27 for Spring Hill. In reply, Spring Hill were restricted to 87, providing CYMS with a valuable bonus point. Opener Luke Bingham (35) was the only score above 20 for the competition leaders. Riley Krause (4/20) and Shehan Fernando (3/24) combined to take most of the wickets.
In 4th Grade, Orange City stayed at the top of the table with their demolition of Centrals. Toby Jackson (45no) and Ben Postma (32) led the way with the bat for the Warriors. In the other match, Orange CYMS snuck home against Kinross in another thrilling 1 wicket result. The green and golds were cruising at 4/86 in pursuit of Kinross’ 112, until a collapse of 5/4 left them 23 runs to get and the last pair at the crease. Cody Griffiths and Thomas French were up to the task as CYMS got the points and kept their 2nd position on the ladder. Henry Baldwinson took 4/16 for the students.
