Wanderers kept themselves in the hunt for a spot in the top 3 defeating Cavaliers for their 3rd win of the season. Batting first at Moulder Park, Wanderers managed a total of 126, with Nathan Gander (29), William Dobbs (25) and Daryl Kennewell (24) making useful contributions. Ollie Jarick was the best of the Cavaliers' bowlers, picking up 4/12. Cavaliers could only muster 97 runs themselves, falling 30 runs short of the victory target. Adam Simpson was the best of the Wanderers bowlers with 3/28 while Blake Randahl took 2/7.
Meanwhile over at Kinross, Central suffered their first defeat since they returned to 2nd grade after round 7. Kinross batted first, posting 8-116 from their 40 overs. Jamie Anderson (34 not out) top scored for the students, while Aaron Chaseling, Rowan Draw and Cameron Roberts each bagged two wickets.
In their response, Centrals looked to be on the ropes at 8/77, before a 33-run partnership for the 9th wicket got them within a sniff of victory. Will Waterson proved to be Kinross’ saviour picking up the final 2 wickets and leaving Centrals 4 runs short of the students total. Liam McKenzie, Walter Prowse and Charlie Miller also picked up 2 wickets each, while best with the willow for Centrals were Adam Shepherd (22) and Cameron Roberts (20).
In another close match at Jack Brabham 4, Orange City chased down Orange CYMS’ total with 1 wicket in hand and only 2 overs to spare. Winning the toss and batting first, the green and golds led by Adam Smith’s 46 and John Mulhall’s 39, made 151 from their 40 overs. Ollie Brincat returned figures of 4 for 20 from his 8 overs for City and Same Wasil picked up 2.
For Orange City, Troy O’Keeffe (33) and Pat Giuffre (28) helped pave the way to victory, but it was left to the final wicket pair of Hayden Griffith (23no) and Jamie Stedman (12no) to get their team home.
